Last week Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows made some bold claims about Mac OS X and Longhorn, an upcoming version of Windows. The X vs. XP site, which claims to compare OS X and Windows XP in an unbiased manner, responds: "Perhaps Longhorn really is technically superior to Panther (with three more years to work on it, I sure hope it's superior), but it would take more to substantiate such a claim than to merely cite Longhorn's task-based file system."

X vs. XP
My favorite quote is "I sure hope it's superior" since Longhorn is 3 yrs. off, and we are using Panther today.

Now see, this is a perfect example of Windows bias. To make a statement like XP is far superior to X is just rediculas. No OS is "far superior" to any other. They all have their advantages and weaknesses, but I haven't seen one that stands out above the rest. Actually, X has a few features that I would love to see in XP like ExposČ. What a great way to switch applications! Fast user switching was XP's great advantage until Panther. The effect that X uses is cute, but I would probably turn that off as fast as I could. I'm not one for the frilly animations. I just want to get my work done.
I've seen a lot of Apple bias in articles about the Mac, so it's nice to see Windows writers are just as stupid.

The best thing you guys can come up with is a: "Perhaps Longhorn really is technically superior to Panther (with three more years to work on it, I sure hope it’s superior), but it would take more to substantiate such a claim than to merely cite Longhorn’s task-based file system." really cute the statement I don't think was meant to judge anything, more like a commentary on possibilities. As for Dave, I myself isn't really too big on animations but when you develop an OS your not developing it for the small portion of the population, probably already lost them to linux. However, I too think Vista has a long way to go before it can make a good sale to upgrade.
