Happy New Year 2005

I know it is a little late, but better late then never. I have had much fun the last few weeks not using my computer much over my holiday break. I know, I know, this does not sound possible. But it is true, for three weeks, well more actually, I did not use my computer every minute of every day. I also did not give support to other people's computers. It was amazing, and a well needed break.

So Happy New Year! My heart and prayers go out to the friends and families of the Indian Ocean Tsunami that hit on December 26, 2004. They, of all people, need our happy thoughts in this new year.

I must say that the two weeks I spent at my grandmother's house with three cats is about the longest time I think I can take with those felines. At the end, even with Claritin-D, I actually felt like I was catching a cold. Luckily this was not the case, and after a couple days home away from the cats showed that it was all just the allergy.

Regardless of the cats, I had a great time being home and seeing my family and friends. It has been a very long time since I have been home for that long, and it was greatly needed.

Now it is on to the new year. I have Art History 146 under my belt, but only with a C. I am now taking Art History 145 and I need to get a better grade. I will not accept anything less then a B this time. I cannot bottom out in the middle of this semester as I did last.

I have other things to look forward to this year (yes, I just referenced taking Art History as being positive) including developing a better online presence for Adams Street Publishing, as well as other web projects that I will surely be writing about in the near future.

I am also seriously thinking about moving into a new apartment later this year. We will see if that happens. If it does, I will be saving a lot of money because I will be rooming with a good friend of mine. Why move? It has a dishwasher - enough said.

Last year I did not make any New Year's resolutions. Not this time. I have a few New Year's resolutions this year. After all, without resolutions nothing gets done!

1. Drink only diet pop: My step-mom Melody gave me this idea. I have been cutting down on the amount of pop I drink, I made a point to do that starting in 2002 and I have cut back. But have you looked at the Nutrition Facts differences between a can of Dr. Pepper and Diet Dr. Pepper? In general diet pop tastes like shit too, which will help here. I will drink less of it this way, which is what I want to do. Hopefully after a few months I can cut out pop entirely.

2. Eat healthier: I know I need to make a conscious effort to eat healthier. This means reading the Nutrition Facts on the foods I buy, eat less fast foods, eat more fruits and vegetables, and start taking multivitamins again. I took Flintstone's Kids multivitamins when I was a kid, there is no reason I should not be taking multivitamins now.

3. Procrastinate less. I know, but hell, its worth a shot. I have been putting off writing this post for 9 days, does that tell you anything? I procrastinate too much in a number of facets of my life. I need to stop procrastinating and just get the stuff done and out of the way. It feels better getting things done, so why do we procrastinate?

4. Work out: This is going to be tough. Between work and school I don't have time to make it to a gym, even though there is one on campus. But I am not thinking gym here. I am thinking excursuses like those I did when rehabilitating my knees. I am talking about using a "fitness ball" of which I used quite a lot to get my strength back in my legs. Also low weight and no weight excursuses, aerobics, crunches, etc. Stuff like that. And nope, I have not procrastinated on this one. I ordered a fitness ball and have already blocked out a half hour before I go to bed to excursive. It isn't much, but its a start, and that is what matters. I am sure that in a few months I will feel much better.

Thats it for my resolutions for 2005. I don't want to make so many that they will not get done.

Here is to a happy, healthy, and safe 2005!
