No UT job for me

In December of 2004 I applied for a Web Developer position at the office of Marketing and Communications at the University of Toledo. The only reason I applied is because I know someone who works there. I figured I did not have a chance, but what the heck.

In February I found out by my contact at UT that I did not get the job. They liked my resume, but they cannot hire someone that does not have a degree. I figured as much.

Last week I got an official letter in the mail from UT that says I did not get the job. I know universities are slow at this type of thing, but three months for a rejection letter? At least it is now official.

The sad thing is Mr. Degree probably knows half of what you do. I really, honestly don't understand how a piece of paper triumphs over experience.
