This kid found out the hard way, and had to go through nearly a dozen surgeries to get his life back to normal.

Reminds me of that Afghani girl who suffered severe burns when her bathtub flipped over, basically fusing much of the skin on her upper body together. Not a picture you could look at without at least wincing. (She's fine now, someone got her some major surgeries in the US. But the before photo is just ghastly.) I can't find any sort of link or photo but it's a recent Readers Digest piece.
