Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin Killed

BRISBANE, Australia -- Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and environmentalist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray during a diving expedition. He was 44.

Oddly, he will be most remembered for dangling his month old child in front of a 13-foot crocodile. He cheated fate so many times, and seemingly provoked the wild animals on his shows. It's a wonder he lived as long as he did. Sad statement I know, but it is true.

I don't think it's true. A lot of the stuff he does looks - uhm, looked insane, but it's a TV show. They probably knew what they were doing and had pretty good security. And in the end, it's not a snake or a croc that got him. It's was a stingray. I guess they didn't expect too much danger and relaxed security a bit.

Bloody shame, too. For his little children, for nature and for us. No more funny animal shows where he sticks his thumb up crocs' ass (or was that Southpark?)
